A peer-reviewed congress that isn't a review of literature. It is a congress that gives you a glimpse into the future of brain-centered health. It is hosted by the Carrick Institute, and now in its ninth edition.
The International Symposium on Clinical Neuroscience brings clinicians and scientists into one room around a single idea: that the nervous system reveals itself where the brain crosses another domain of human function. Eight themed symposia pair invited science with peer-reviewed submitted work.
“Understand the crossing points, and you understand the system.”
ISCN is presented by the Carrick Institute — a global leader in graduate-level clinical neuroscience education. For decades, the Institute has trained clinicians worldwide in functional neurology, neurorehabilitation, and applied clinical neuroscience, building the community of providers this congress convenes.
That heritage is what makes ISCN possible: a room of practitioners who already speak the language, gathered around the science that moves their work forward.

In 2009 Tricia Carrick, Dr. Matthew Antonucci and the Carrick Institute hosted a groundbreaking symposium in functional neurology and clinical neuroscience, called SupraSegmental 2009. Over 500 delegates in the field of clinical neuroscience and functional neurology, from around the world, convened in Atlanta, Georgia with overwhelming enthusiasm.
Over the following years, they collaborated with other organizations to host annual functional neurology and rehabilitation conferences, contributing to the growth of the field.
In 2015, with a new, focused vision, they created the International Symposium on Clinical Neuroscience. This event instantly became a dedicated platform for researchers and clinicians to discuss the future of cutting-edge research, practical tools. But it also had a secondary effect; it created a global community, carrying forward the same passion that started it all, while evolving to meet the ever-growing needs of clinical neuroscience and functional neurology.
2015 marked the beginning of a global effort to advance neurological education, clinical reasoning, and patient care. Clinicians gained access to expert perspectives, and practical applications designed to strengthen their understanding of the nervous system.
2017 deepened the understanding of neurological function and its application to patient care. More than a conference, it served as a growing global forum for advancing ideas, collaboration, and clinical excellence.
2018 explored new discoveries, clinical models, and practical strategies for patient care. Through powerful presentations and research-driven education, clinicians gained a broader perspective on the nervous system and its role in health and function..
2019 bridged the gap between complex neuroscience and real-world patient outcomes. More than a conference, it brought together thought leaders dedicated to advancing the way clinicians understand, assess, and support nervous system function.
ISCN 2027 will be a congress carrying the legacy of convening the field's leading clinicians and some of the biggest names in neurology. The 2027 edition promises to show you the FUTURE of integrated neurology, and how to apply it, in Cocoa Beach, Florida.
Accepted work is eligible for publication through ISCN's proceedings partnership with Brain Sciences* — so the science presented in the room doesn't stay in the room. It's part of what makes ISCN a research congress, not just a conference.
ISCN is lead by directors, a committed organizing committee, and a rigorous international scientific committee of leading clinicians and researchers. Members are announced ahead of the congress.
